Las Vegas Sport Betting Rules

Weather, power outages or any other unforeseen event can happen during a game. And you may wonder how do these events affect your bet?

Well, if the game has not started yet, all bets will have no action and will eventually be refunded. But if the game has started, interrupted and not completed, here are some general Las Vegas Sport Betting rules that apply.

Of course, the best rule is to always check with your preferred bookie to know of any particular rules.

Football Betting Rules

  1. For a football bet to have action, a game should be played for fifty-five minutes.

  2. Football games that are played in less than 55 minutes shall be considered "No Action" and all bets are refunded.

  3. Point spread, money line, or totals bets include overtime scores.

  4. Second half bets include overtime scores.

Baseball Betting Rules

  1. For a baseball bet to have action, a game is considered official (money line) after 4 ½ innings if the home team is winning, or 5 innings if the visiting team is winning.

  2. If a baseball game is cancelled or suspended, the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning (unless the home team scores to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which case the winner is determined by the score at the time the game is called).

  3. Baseball games must be completed on the same day to have action.

  4. For totals or run lines, a baseball game is considered official after 8 1/2 innings if home team is winning, or 9 innings if visiting team is winning. If the game does not go 9 innings (8 ½ if the home team is winning), all totals and run lines are refunded.

  5. If a game goes past 9 innings and is not completed because of rain, curfew, etc, there is action on game total and run line wagers. These will be graded based on the current score.

Basketball Betting Rules

  1. For a basketball bet to have action, NBA games are considered official after forty-three minutes of play. Meanwhile, college basketball games are considered official after thirty-five minutes of play.

  2. Games played under the official time are declared "No Action" and all bets are refunded.

  3. Overtime scores are included in point spread, money line, or totals bets.

  4. Second half bets also include overtime scores.

NHL Betting Rules

  1. For an NHL bet to have action, a game becomes official after fifty-five minutes of play.

  2. Games played under the official are declared "No Action" and all bets are refunded.

  3. Games must take place on the site and date scheduled or all bets are refunded.

  4. Overtime scores and shootouts are included in all bets unless specified.

NASCAR Betting Rules

  1. When betting on NASCAR driver matchups, both drivers involved must start the race (cross the starting line) or the matchup is considered "No Action" and the bet is refunded.

  2. In cases where the starting driver is replaced during the race with another driver from the same team (same car), the position the new driver finishes in will be awarded to the original driver.

MLS Betting Rules

  1. MLS games are declared official after 90 minutes of play plus injury time.

  2. Overtime, the Golden Goal rule, and penalty kicks are not considered unless otherwise stipulated.

Boxing Betting Rules

  1. Boxing bets WITHOUT the option to bet on "Draw" are declared "No Action" if the bout ends in a draw.

  2. If there is a draw option and the fight ends in a draw, all bets on the boxers are considered a loss, and the wagers on the draw is deemed the winner.

Tennis Betting Rules

  1. Two full sets must be completed for tennis bets to have "action". If less than two sets are played, all bets are refunded.

  2. Tennis bets stand once the match has started, even if the venue or date changes.

  3. If, during a match, a player retires due to injury or any other reason and two sets were already completed, the retiring player is declared the loser.

Golf Betting Rules

  1. Single day golf matchups are bets on the complete 18-holes for a particular day. Holes played from the previous day's round, and playoff holes are not included in Single Day matchups. The full 18 holes will be considered in determining the outcome of the bet even if they are played on consecutive days.

  2. If both golfers in the matchup do not complete the full 18 holes, all bets are declared "No Action". Likewise, if both golfers end the 18 holes in a tie, the bet is considered "No Action".
